Lower back pain can indicate a weakness in the lower back commonly due to repeated poor posture or poor technique during sports. It is a very common condition due to the sedentary lifestyle we lead.
Every day the spine is under strain from sitting, postural strain and incidental injury. All of these cause disc compression and can lead to stiff vertebra. This is turn can cause muscle tightness. Needless to say it is very prevalent in people who sit down for long periods e.g. office workers.
If untreated lower back pain can lead to more complicated conditions such as a degenerative disc disease, herniated disc, prolapsed disc and ultimately an unstable spinal segment.
Clinical massage can help to alleviate symptoms of pain and reduce stiffness and overall tension. It is effective in the treatment of:
- Back Muscle strains or sprains
- Muscle tension, spasm or stiffness
- Stiff vertebra
- Degenerative Disc Disease
- Herniated Disc (commonly called slipped disc)
- Sacro Iliac Joint Syndrome
How we can help
A combination of advanced massage techniques are used to treat the muscles and soft tissues of the back, buttocks, hips and abdomen. Mobilisation of the spinal segments will also be used to reduce any spinal stiffness.
