Alison Emery-14

I specialise in the treatment and management of chronic pain in the muscles and soft tissues. Chronic pain can arise due to muscles becoming chronically contracted over time as a response to daily stress that we experience. We often put it down to getting older but in actual fact this is not the case. As we get older we have simply accumulated more stress in our bodies. The good news is that chronically contracted muscles can be released resulting in more freedom of movement and less pain. I work in a very different way now. I offer sessions in Clinical/Sports Massage, I can teach you a self care technique called Somatics or I can offer you a combination of both. It very much depends on your needs.

When it comes to chronic pain there is not a quick fix. In the past I have treated people for one off sessions and to be honest, although they feel better at the time they still have the problem. If you are serious and committed to tackling the issue that you have then you need to be realistic and invest in your health both financially and with your time. You only get one life. Do you want to spend it in pain all the time, struggling every day, taking pain killers, not sleeping etc or would you rather spend it doing all the things you want to do, injury and pain free for years to come.

The late Thomas Hanna once said ‘The living body is a moving body. If life means movement and death means no movement then it may be permissible to think that more movement means more life and less movement means less life.’

How true this is. What kind of life would you like?
